MISSION COMMITTEE

 
What a blessing it is to be able to say that our church gives over 10% of it's budget to mission!!

 Besides the mission budget which goes to Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly, we do so much more!  To give you an idea of where our time and resources go please take a note of our 2003 Mission Report:

The Mission Committee sponsored all four special offerings designated by The Presbyterian Church USA.  Our church generously gave the following amounts:

    One Great Hour of Sharing - $ 2,400.00
    Pentecost - $ 342.62
    Peacemaking - $ 339.18
    Christmas Joy - $ 372.503

Our committee utilized the church budget allocation and proceeds from Apple & Pork Candy and Parking Lot to significantly support the following mission projects.

    Habitat for Humanity $ 500
    Ultimate Playspace $ 500
    Kemmerer Village $ 500
    Community Action $ 250
    Community Clothes Closet $ 300
    Thanksgiving Food Baskets $ 822.64

    Ill CAAP $ 200
    Home Sweet Home $ 100
    YMCA (Strong Kids Campaign) $ 68.52
    Write Stuff for Kids $ 64.52

During the OGHS season 82 Gift of the Heart bags were donated to Church World Service.

The CROP walk was held in terrible weather in May raising $ 3,045

The Carnival Dinner was held during May Days.  Our church reached out to approximately 50 carnival workers by serving them a sit-down dinner.

Apple and Pork Festival Candy Booth netted $1,275.83  Parking Lot netted $1,623.61

A neighborhood Halloween block party was sponsored by the education committee with mission providing refreshments and workers to assist.

The Thanksgiving Basket program served 175 local families.  Gospel of John books were included with each basket.

The Warm Neighbors Program was based at our church beginning in December with hours of 9-11AM on Tuesdays.  Nancy Lamkin (Tom) is coordinating the service.

The committee organized the gathering of Christmas gifts for DeWitt County Nursing Home residents.

Each moth personal and cleaning items were collected and delivered to Community Action.

Angel Tree was again supported with our church providing gifts for approximately 33 children.
