BREATH PRAYER

Using Breath Prayer

The concept of Breath Prayers is that when you pray very slowly you can truly concentrate on what it is you are praying about.  You begin by taking a deep breath, and when you exhale, you say the next phrase.  Keep repeating this.  Breathing in, and praying when you exhale.  The following is a written example that you can use to get started, but the idea is that you can do this anywhere.  Try it in the shower, while driving, or just to take a couple of minutes in the midst of a busy day.

O God, I am seeking

ways to be

less encumbered;

ways to

simplify my life;

ways to build

spaces and silences

into a life full

of busyness

and noise.

Teach me to find that

quiet center of self

that you have

hidden within me,

a resting in

your presence.
